Expedia Points are its loyalty program reward system for loyal customers. Expedia rewards its customers on every amount they spend on either booking flights, cruises, excursions, hotel accommodations, or car rentals through its platform with Expedia Points. These points can then be redeemed by the customers and used for booking and rentals with Expedia.

This article will take you through the Expedia loyalty program reward system and show you how Expedia Points work.

How Expedia Points work

Expedia has one of the best online travel services on the web and, coupled with that, allows its customers to enjoy Expedia Points from every booking and rental they make on flights, cars, hotels, vacations, cruises, etc.

The points given by Expedia are earned per dollar customers spend on a travel service on its online platform. To help you understand how the Expedia Points work, we have given a brief and concise discourse below on Expedia Points earning levels, how much Expedia Points are worth, and how you can use your Expedia points.

Expedia Points earning levels.

Expedia Points have four different earning levels for customers, depending on their loyalty towards patronising its brand. These levels are:

• Blue membership level

This level is automatically awarded to anyone who joins the Expedia reward program. Expedia Points that come with this level are not as much as the two other levels (silver and gold). At this level, you will be given 1 Expedia reward point for every $5 you spend on flight bookings and 2 Expedia Points for every $1 you spend on hotel bookings, car rentals, cruise bookings, vacation arrangements, and other travel service experiences outside flight bookings, using the Expedia reward program platform. Outside the points given to you on your spending with the platform, you’ll also enjoy a 10% discount or more on bookings with some high-class hotels.

• Silver membership level

This level is considered premium as it is a level (the 1st level) where you need to meet certain requirements to enter and enjoy premium perks and benefits.

To be awarded a silver membership, you must have either booked at least 10 travel services In a year, stayed seven nights and above in a booked hotel, or spent a minimum of $5,000 in a year on bookings and/or rentals with its reward program. Expedia Points that come with this level are a bit more attractive than that with the blue membership.

• Gold membership level

This level is the highest premium level on the Expedia reward program, which comes with the highest requirements and the best reward benefits for the program members. To be awarded a gold membership, you must have either booked at least 25 travel services In a year, stayed 15 nights and above in a booked hotel, or spent a minimum of $10,000 in a year on bookings and/or rentals with its reward program.

At this level, you’ll be given two extra points on all bookings and rentals done with the Expedia reward program. So, that will be 3 points on every $5 spent on flight bookings and 4 points on every $1 spent on other travel bookings and rentals. Outside the points given to you on your spending with the platform, you’ll also enjoy a 30% discount on bookings with some high-class hotels.

How much Expedia Points are worth

Expedia Points are not worth much, but you can use them to complement the amount you spend on bookings and rentals with Expedia. A total of 140 Expedia Points will give you $1. So, if you spend $500 as a blue status member, you’re likely to earn a maximum of 1000 points which will give you $7.1.

As a silver status member, you’re likely to earn a maximum of 1500 points which will give you $10.7. As a gold status member, you’re likely to earn a maximum of 2000 points which will give you $14.2.

How you can use your Expedia points

Expedia Points can be used to make bookings or pay rentals with Expedia. You can book and hire with your Expedia Points easily by logging into your Expedia account, searching for the travel service/services you’d need from Expedia at the moment, selecting it or them (depending on the number of services), and proceeding to check-out to select “Use my points” as your payment option. You can also use your points to complete your payment made with your credit or debit card.

Expedia Points are nice benefits customers earn when they pay for bookings and/or rentals on the Expedia travel service platform. They are earned at different levels according to the loyalty level of customers. And they can be used to make bookings and/or pay for rentals with Expedia.
