All chat history on your phone will be removed when you delete WhatsApp. You won’t be able to access previous communications using WhatsApp. Even if you back up your iPhone to iCloud (for iPhone) or Google Drive (Android), and reactivate your account, your backups will be erased, and you won’t be able to restore them.

Open WhatsApp and go to the three-dotted icon in the top right corner. Visit the Account area, then select Delete My Account from the drop-down menu. You’ll have to supply your phone number and choose to Delete My Account once again before you can remove your account.

Simply said, uninstalling WhatsApp merely disables the account and allows you to restart it at any time. It may be described as a logout on steroids in which old communications are not erased (if a backup is taken) and new messages will be delivered after reinstalling WhatsApp.

When you decide to remove the program, it recognizes this and makes no changes to your contact information. This means that while your contacts will still be able to view your profile picture, it will be deactivated. If you have your read receipts turned off, then the contacts will be aware of when you last saw them.

To delete WhatsApp from your device: Go to Settings > Applications > WhatsApp. [Uninstall]. Restart your phone. From here, you can download and install WhatsApp for Android.
